Top Talent Thursday

Welcome back to
Our Creative Corner.
Today, at Top Talent Thursday we introduce to you; TRACEY from the delightful Roman town of Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire, England.
This town is steeped in history, but most will know it as a place that the famous heroic outlaw in English folklore supposedly came from; ‘Robin Hood and his Merry Men!)
No Merry men here though, only one very talented lady and it is my pleasure to welcome and introduce the winner of the ‘Silver and Purple Christmas’ Challenge:
TRACEY.-Inkypinkycraft.

Let us learn a little bit about her.
1.) Where do you Live?
I am originally from Kent, and now I live in Newark Nottinghamshire, with my husband and three children.

2.)Are you a day-time or night-time crafter?

I would love to craft all day long but with a 3, soon to be 8 , and 10 year old that doesn't happen! So I am a weekend and morning crafter and find that that is when I work best ! Daddy steps in to play with the children and I craft, lucky me!

3.) Do you work on more than one piece at a time?
If I am making tags , I tend to do one at a time, but, if I am making larger or more complex pieces that need drying time ( and time is precious) I tend to have more than one piece on the go at once!
I am really experimenting with lots of canvas and painty pieces as well as vintage makes and have lots scattered about as Lucy ( age 3 ) loves painting too, so we sometimes craft together in the kitchen! I usually have lots of part started pieces on the go!

4.) Any inspirational words you can share?

To enjoy the journey and believe in yourself. I do lack confidence in my own abilities, and am trying hard to believe in myself and be true to myself and in doing so enjoy the journey of creating and growing! So I guess it would be to believe in yourself and be yourself and not compare yourself to others.

5.) Bathroom, Craft-room, or car. Which do you clean first?

Craft-room . When in the middle of creating, I craft and craft with things strewn all over as the mood and inspiration takes me..usually until I have a teeny tiny space to craft in on my desk. Then I tidy and clear the decks to start all over again!
( Anyway luckily my husband does the Bathroom!!)

6.) What supply wouldn't you do without when it comes to stamping?

Distress inks, distress inks and distress inks.
There are so many crafty products that I love but I cannot imagine a crafty world without Distress! Love it!

If you love Grunge/Steampunk then you are going to love what Tracey has made for us.

Thank you Tracey for being our 'Thursday's Top Talent'  and sharing such wonderful inspiration with us!

Woody with a button

Hello everyone and welcome back to another week at Our Creative Corner! Liliana here again and on behalf of my team I would like to thank everyone who has participated in last week's challenge. Your creations have been fabulous, you are so talented!

This week I am bringing a challenge in which you have to create a project or card using woodgrain. You may use a technique to simulate woodgrain or use designer paper, or an actual piece of wood! The woodgrain needs to be seen. You also have to use at least one button.

Have fun with the challenge and hope to see your creations at the gallery!

White with a Decorative Edge

Hi everyone! Liliana here and welcome back to another fun challenge at Our Creative Corner. First I want to thank everyone who has participated in last week's challenge. Your creations have been fabulous!

I'll be your hostess this week. I love winter and snow so much that my challenge for this week is to create a card or project white on white with a decorative edge. Your card must be entirely white with the exception of the sentiment which can be the color you like. Any embellishments you use have to be white as well and if you are using rhinestones they have to be silver. Remember that the most important thing is to have fun!

Here are the amazing creations of the Design Team. Hope you get inspired and participate this week!

Top Talent Thursday

Welcome back to
Our Creative Corner.
Today, at Top Talent Thursday we introduce to you from one of the largest countries in Europe; the beautiful kingdom of Sweden, a multifaceted card-maker, who has the ability to be proficient in many genres, from Cute to Vintage to Shabby Chic.
The winner of our ' Santa Claus Vintage'  challenge, and my pleasure to present and introduce;

BIRGIT.

Let us learn a little bit about her.
1.) Where do you Live?
I live in the south east of Sweden,  out in the countryside with my family in a very small village.
It is so small that it is not an idea to mention the name of it :) No one knows anyway where it is.
(Sounds interesting!)

2.) What if anything, do you consistently draw inspiration from?
Almost all my inspiration I get from all of you bloggers! I love to surf around and look at what you are doing and maybe steal some ideas here and there.
There did you get my little secret....

3.) Do you work on more than one piece at a time?
I can never never  work on two projects at the same time, it is quite impossible! I just mix up all the things and all the inspiration runs out into nothing.
I stand there completely confused and have no idea of what I'm doing, so I can not.

4.)  Do you feel you create better in any particular season? And if so why?
That would be the Christmas season. I love my Christmas cards, and I never have time to do all that I have planned to do.
Lots of ideas and very little time to do them on, it's some other things to fix with that particular time of year:)

5.) Bathroom, Craft-room, or car. Which do you clean first?
Bathroom, no doubt!  There is nothing more disgusting than a dirty toilet.

6.) What other hobbies or talents do you have that you'd like to share with us?
I love to go skiing! Winter is no problem for me. Since there are no horrible mosquitoes or flies, just lovely white snow and a ski trail waiting for me. See you there...

Birgit made a beatific and captivating card.

Thank you Birgit for being our 'Thursday's Top Talent'  and sharing such wonderful inspiration with us!

Shabby Chic Style

Hello everyone!  Sharon W. here, again.  I want to say 'great job' to everyone who played along with us last week.  It will be difficult to select a winner!  But, that's for later.  Lets's focus on this week.  I am hosting another challenge here @ Our Creative Corner.  I want to share some of my passions.  My favorite color combo is pink, aqua, and kraft.  But, my favorite style is shabby chic and vintage.  I just love all things girly.  And so, I wanted to get you inspired with the 'Shabby Chic' style, and hope you create something for this challenge.
As we welcome the new year, I don't want us to forget things from our past.  So, the challenge this week is to create a paper craft item (3-D piece, a card, a tag, a scrapbook page, etc.)  in a 'Shabby Chic' style.  If you aren't familiar, or just want a guideline, 'Shabby Chic' style is generally characterized by a time-worn look achieved by inking and distressing.  There are layers of softness that can be achieved by the use of ribbon, lace, and crochet trim.  You will need to include feminine embellishments, such as buttons, pearls, glitter, and any other sweet embellishment.
Here is what the design team have created.  We hope we have inspired you!

Top Talent Thursday.

Welcome back to
Our Creative Corner.
Our Top Talent this week has been chosen by three different Dt’s on three different occasions the first was in 'The photo Challenge' and the second 'Lets be Royal'  and now the A.B.C.Challenge.
Please put your hands together for our very first triple winner; Nicola, she catches the eye of all our Dt’s here at OCC with her wonderful creations.
It is with utmost pleasure that I present to you this Thursday all the way from Ireland, a lady who surprisingly has not been blogging very long, but what she lacks in time she makes up with her talent.
So please welcome our Top Talent;
Nicola - Paper Profusion

First let us learn a little bit about her.

1.) Where do you Live?
I live in Dublin, Ireland in a picturesque Georgian district about 15 minutes walk from the main centre of the city. My home overlooks a lovely part of Dublin’s Grand Canal with its tree-lined towpaths. Many tourists who have visited Dublin would likely have passed near my home on one or other of the various city tour vehicles or on foot.

2.)Describe yourself in five words?

I’m still pondering this one -That’s 5! Hmmm, I’ll submit Generous, Loving, Perfectionist, Thinker and Sensitive.

3.) How would you describe what it means to have an "Artistic Outlook" on life?
I hadn't considered myself as artistic so I'll take this compliment gladly. I suppose for me it means that 'the visual' is very prominent in my world. I likely am at my happiest and most creative when surrounded with visuals and light that appeal to me. I am curious to continue to see new things, the more aesthetic the better.

4.) Bathroom, Craft-room, or car. Which do you clean first?
Bathroom. Alas I don’t have space for a craft-room, but even if I did it would still be bathroom.

5.) Is there anything unique or quirky you would like to share with us about yourself? (It could be a fun thing.)
I adore Elephants! There are quite a few images, sculptures or carvings of them around my home. You can see that I even specially 'packed my trunk' for this project!!

6.) If you could have anything you wanted, what would it be?
Good health.

Now sit back and have a look at her beautiful altered suitcases.

Thank you Nicola for being our 'Thursday's Top Talent' again and sharing such wonderful inspiration with us!
You will find details on her blog and more photos.
