Oh Baby! Inspiration Challenge winner

How adorable is the giraffe punch art? Perfect for a baby card! The framed window is a clever take on the shape of the cake in the inspiration photo, and the embossed background and hearts really add a punch! Congratulations to Tracey - please display our Top Talent badge with pride!

Good Bye and Hello - Announcing Our New Design Team

A huge thank you to all who applied for a design team position with Our Creative Corner. We all took part in the review and recommendation of the new members. It was a tough choice with so many great entries and now we have five new design team members.

Design Team Call

Looking for this week's challenge? Click here.

It's time once again to build up our design team. The end of our term is coming up and several of our talented designers are moving on to new endeavors. We will have five new openings on our design team and the next OCC designer could be YOU!

We want you to show us your best work, something that depicts your style. It does not need to be a new creation although if you want to make something brand new, go for it. We would ask that it be something not more than 6 months old. Please don't think you need to match up your style to what you see here from our DT. We want to be representative of many styles so that all players feel welcome. So whether your style is clean and simple, fussy and frilly, artsy or grungy, let it fly. Show us something that really shows where you are as an artist.

This DT call will remain open through midnight ET on Monday, January 23rd. Those chosen will be notified by Saturday, January 28th and your first challenge with us will be Saturday, February 4th. You must have had a blog for at least six months. You will be required to do a blog post for each of our challenges. Other requirements can be found on the DT Requirements tab above.

Welcome to another Saturday and another challenge! I'm Lori Rider, your host this week. I love inspiration challenges so I thought I would bring you one this weekend. I hope you enjoy it!

This photo comes from the Hostess with the Mostess, whose blog is always full of gorgeousness. Isn't this table spectacular? It's from a baby shower and was clearly a very fabulous occasion. For this challenge, please choose at least two elements from the photo to serve as inspiration for your creation and tell us about how they inspired you. If you wish, since this is from a baby shower, go one step further and give your project a baby theme!

Home for the Holidays Winner

Hi All, its Sharon, I hope that all of you have had a wonderful holiday spent with family and friends. I am here to announce our Top Talent Award Winner from our Home for the Holidays challenge. I'd like to thank all of those who have played along in our challenge. We all understand that that time of year can be especially busy. We had 23 participants in the Home for the Holidays challenge, and they were all wonderful to see! Our Top Talent Award goes to #18 Marie O, of Ink'd Wings.

We were all impressed with the level of detail on Marie's card. And her iris folding is quite beautiful! For this week's challenge, we would like you to use the scene in your own home for your inspiration. Ever have one of those days when you have something to do and you keep reminding yourself to do it up until it's time to do it and then you forget? Well that's what I did with this post! I apologize for being a day late to announce the winner of the "Haul Out the Holly...It's Time to Decorate" challenge.

First we, here at Our Creative Corner, want to thank all of you who participated in the challenge. It never ceases to amaze me how much creative talent each of you has and yet how unique each is in that talent. I think creativity is a wonderful blessing we all have in some way or another. Welcome back ... and a huge big thank you to everyone that played along with us in our Masculine challenge. We had a fantastic turnout and you definitely turned up the creative heat which were every bit impressive, creative and definitely masculine.

It was such a difficult decision to select our Top Talent for the week, but after much deliberation we are happy to announce Diane W of Dianes Rambles.

What is there not to love about this adorable card, and how cute is that gorgeous lil scarecrow. Everything about this card is fresh, bright and definitely not your traditional masculine colours ... yet it is unmistakably masculine! Diane's colouring is superb and combined with the paper piecing she really captures an adorably colourful little character. And, then to top off her detailing the addition of the raffia and a simple button embellishment, a lovely final touch! Oh, you may not have noticed, but this card is actually a pocket card - behind the main focal panel is the little pull out tag and a packet of seeds .... how divine!

Fancy Folds Challenge Winner

Welcome back ... a huge big thank you to everyone that played along with us in our Fancy Folds challenge. We had a fantastic turnout and your creations were every bit impressive, creative and totally fancy. Thank you also to those of you who kindly shared your links and tutorials!

It was such a difficult decision to select our Top Talent for the week, but after much deliberation we are happy to announce Michele Spera of Magical Creative Inspiration by Michele Spera.

What an "awesome" centre step card this is, not only does this fold highlight and feature a beautifully coloured image, but how adorable is this little guy all dressed up and ready to do battle - Michele's colouring is superb and she really captures the highlights and lowlights in the image. I also admire all the patterned papers she has used, what a great array of colours, patterns and layers, which all complement and add interest wonderfully. Hi, it's Tui here and I am delighted to be hosting this weeks challenge with you again. Masculine cards are the type of cards I have the most difficulty with, therefore my challenge is to create a masculine card or project. However, if you would like a real challenge and to step up the heat a bit try creating a masculine card .... using .... non-traditional masculine colours - plus, any neutrals of your choice.

Tip: Think about using textures, plaid, checks, stripes, argyle, stamped images and sentiments also brads, grommetts, twine, string, burlap, then add the colour - think yellows, oranges, pinks, purples, reds, pastels, and finally add in your neutral. Be creative and have fun!

Totally Transparent Challenge WInner

Fall Color Challenge winner

Chupa - Iwona Palamountain! The coloring and paper piecing on this card is simply stunning, and the simple design with the natural elements of grass and clouds just pops off the page. Supply Challenge: Totally Transparent

Happy Saturday and welcome to a new OCC challenge! We really enjoyed looking at all the entries for last week’s fall color challenge. The winner will be announced on Wednesday. I’m Marjie Kemper and I’m thrilled to be hosting here at OCC for the first time. I chose “Totally Transparent” as my theme because transparencies are so versatile and they can easily be used in any kind of paper crafting. I like supply challenges because they spark my creativity and prompt me to use things that might’ve been a bit neglected.

Transparencies come in all sizes, from tiny tags to full 12X12 scrapbook overlays. They can be written on, stamped, inked, painted, misted… the sky’s the limit. You can also use your clear packaging material… recycling is always a good thing! I decided to make a scrapbook layout and used a pre-made round journaling transparency on it. It’s visually appealing to put some things behind and some above your transparency, and by putting things above you can hide your adhesive (there are staples behind the blue flower on mine) below. Let's look at what our guest designer and design team came up with this week:

Not Big on Pink Winner

Good Morning, and what a beautiful day! I want to thank all of those who have played along with us this past week during our 'Not Big On Pink' challenge. What a gorgeous set of cards to look at! And selecting only one Top Talent was a bit hard. But we were able to narrow down the Top Talent, and our winner is:

This gorgeous card really caught our eye. She used a lot of different textures and worked it all together. Her card is mostly light blue and white with some browns and little roses in pink. The large white antiqued blossom is just so pretty and the white washed corrigated cardboard behind the main image is just so perfect.

Well, this week, your hostess is Sharon, again. This is my second week hosting here @ Our Creative Corner, and I'm having a blast. Not Big on Pink

Happy Saturday! It's Sharon, from Designs by Sharon. I am your hostess this week. This week's challenge is titled: 'Not Big on Pink' . For those who know me, I am a girl-y girl. I love flowers, ribbons, buttons, and all shades of red/pink. When you see my paper crafting samples, you can tell right away I like shabby chic, and feminine images. However, I have girlfriends who don't even like pink! Crazy, I know. So, for this paper craft challenge, I want you to use any shade of blue, and just a touch of pink. If you need a number, think 1/5 or less in pink. You must also incorporate some texture, (ie: fabric, ribbon, floss, etc) and a metal piece (ie: brad, push pin, charm, etc.). Make something pretty without going over the top in pinks! Heather Hilliard of House Beautiful circa Oct 2011, said that, 'A bright, happy blue becomes very sophisticated when paired with a neutral'. So, if you find you're having a bit of a struggle, let Heather's words help guide you. And most of all, have FUN!

Wonderful Windows

Hi paper people! Its Holly again and I'm excited to share my second challenge with you this week - windows!

When I first started papercrafting, I bought a few dies and had a blast cutting out shapes from my patterned papers but when I started cutting them from my card bases and making windows, I was in heaven! I really like windowed cards because you don't see them a lot in the ones you get at the store. They are so fun and a really quick way to create some dimension to your cards.

So heere's your challenge - make a papercraft that uses a window as its focal point. Cut it out however you wish - with a die, trim it with scissors or use a craft knife - whatever you want!

Holly here, as your hostess this week. I am so thrilled to be hosting my very first challenge on Our Creative Corner and actually my first challenge - ever! I really enjoy the OCC blog because I think the challenges they (and now we) post each week are fun, interesting and truly a challenge. I get to work with graphic designers in my professional life and meeting a great challenge on with creativity is right up my alley!

I've always admired those who can see beyond a pattern on paper to turn it into a base or focal point for their paper project. We will be announcing the winner on Wednesday, in the mean time we have a new challenge for you, A Color Challenge. I call it a "Neutral Challenge with a POP"! But just not any neutrals and not just any Pop of color.

This color challenge is to use Basic Gray, Basic Black and the POP is Real Red, of course you can add in white or vanilla.

Are you all busy creating for our current challenge? Click here to check it out. Meanwhile, I have picked the winner for last weeks Fun With Fruit challenge! I have to say, there were some real cute ones out there, but I have to declare Malissa the winner!

This card has great balance and is simple with perfect details. I loved the ruler ribbon and the subtle embossed texture of the kraft paper. But the kicker is the way she tilted the main image. It's nothing big, but it made a big impact. Great job Malissa!

Have you been enjoying the last few weeks of summer? I have been, which is why this post is a few hours late...SORRY!.... I know last weeks challenge was a tough one - using flower images as inspiration without using flowers....I'm kinda sneeky that way.... You all showed us some AMAZING creations, but I'm going to have send my Top Talent Award this week to Shannon Finch of The Giving Finch! I love that she used the 'idea' of flowers in a vase with those adorable pinwheels, super cute! Don't forget to get to have Fun with Fruit and get those fruit creations done for this weeks challenge. Hello again ladies, I'm so glad you're joining us again this week at Our Creative Corner! This week, I thought I'd take it easy on you....no tricks up my sleeve.... I have another inspiration photo from my trip to the Green Market in Copenhagen.

Imagine if you will - a Walmart sized building FILLED with fresh produce, ONLY fresh produce. Boxes of cherries, nectarines, peaches, elder berries, mini watermelons, strawberries, fruit I had never seen before, the colors, the smells....amazing! I took a few photos of the gorgeous fruit boxes, each little piece of juiciness just waiting to be baked into a danish....hee, hee.... So that's your inspiration for this weeks challenge - incorporate fruit into your creation! Any kind, any color, have fun with it!

Hi crafters, it's Kristin here, I'm so glad you are here for this week's Our Creative Corner challenge! We have a great challenge for you and it's the first week for our new Design Team members to join us.

First, the challenge. You may have noticed....from the last 2 challenges I hosted.... I recently took a trip to Copenhagen, Denmark. I had the most amazing opportunity to visit the city's Green Flower Market....holy gorgeous flowers....not to mention the whole city was in bloom. As a former special events planner and wedding florist, I was inspired! So I thought I'd bring a little more of Copenhagen to share with you all these next 2 weeks. Now the challenge, using these photos of flowers I took as inspiration, create a project WITHOUT using any flowers!...I know, I'm mean....

It seems that many of you may have been a little imtimidated by my Copenhagen challenge....raise your hand it you're adicted to patterned papers, my hands up.... Don't be afraid to think outside of your normal creative box, you never know what fabulous creation you'll come up with!

Thanks to all of you that participated in last week's White Party challenge. You made it VERY hard for me to choose a winner for this challenge...REALLY, REALLY hard... I wish I could pass out the award to several of you; like Paul B and Holly. But I have to admit I can't pick just one, so I picked one each from the 2 styles I love, Shabby and CAS.

First Shabby kudos to Lenet! Her card uses several different shades of white and different textures to make an amazing creation!

Second, CAS kudos go to Tui! Her card is simple and perfect. I love the embossed wood grain in the background and negative heart. Genius!

Hello again ladies!

I am completely in love with all the white creations you came up with last week! I will have my work cut out choosing a winner....wish me luck....

This week I have a challenge for you that's close to my heart! Copenhagen. My dear BFF lives over there and I have had several opportunities to visit her there. The city is old, historic, charming and inspiring; hence how I came up with this challenge! Your job this week is to make a creation based on one of the photos below but the catch is, you CAN'T use any pre-printed papers. Make sure you let us know which photo inspired your creation and get creative. Now, break out those stamps, embossing folders and fabrics, I can't wait to see all you come up with!

Now, my favorite summer events are garden parties, you know the ones when everyone wears white? That's my inspiration for this week's challenge, we're having a White party! I don't know about you, but I LOVE white! The challenge is for you to ONLY use white in you creation. Think it will look flat? Enhance the color with textures and patterns.
