There are no rules for journaling, it is 'anything
goes'.
This is actually the oft-quoted "The journey is the reward"
With journaling very different forms of expression can be used: painting, drawing, photography, collage, stamps, stencils, chipboards, writing, .... and much more.
Often it is a combination of different techniques in Mixed media style, that lead to pages.

For this project I chose the Leafy vine frame, the wonderful Flourish dragonflies and the Words Inspire
For the background I used some acrylic paints (brown, black, white)
The wet paint was marked with a tool to give the impression of natural bark
I also worked with stamps, stencils and Distress spray paint
The chip board was primed with Golden/green acrylic paint....
.....and gold embossing powder was used here
and covered with a white patina
Before becoming a journal page this was an old calendar page
This was perfect - It become a wonderful background

ReplyDeleteWow - what a stunning art journal page this is! The texture is just divine! And it is the perfect background for your lovely photograph and the wonderfully painted embellishments! You really showed a way of using them that makes me want to try it out too - this is so much more than just some embellishments added to some painted background! A wonderful, wonderful creation!
