This week's challenge here.
If you are concerned about spam, go to comment moderation. I personally moderate all comments 14 days and older. I find that if I do get spam it usually hits the older posts. While searching the internet for this Just Say No button, I came across a very informative post on how to turn off word verification. So rather than reinvent the wheel, I am going to refer you to the post on the Ramblings and Photos blog. If you need help figuring out how to turn off word verification, there are step-by-step directions and photos to walk you through. Thanks so much to Ashley Sisk for her very informative post on the subject!
You may not even know that you are using word verification. I believe it is turned on automatically when you create your blog. Now is a good time to check to see if you are using it.
Feel free to leave us comments on how you feel about our new approach and as always, we thank you for stopping by Our Creative Corner.
I agree that it is a pain and feel it isn't necessary. Blogger has spam detection also, the very few spam I have gotten have been caught by it. Or you can just delete the spam if it is posted.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this - I thought it was me/needing an eye check up - didn't hear about this change so thank you again for the info. Beyond frustrating - I experienced this on a blog and had to enter over five times. agh!
ReplyDeleteGood post...I thought I was really having vision problems a few times. It's just too time consuming looking at slanted, faded and distorted letters. Thanks
ReplyDeleteAmen and Amen! This has nearly driven me bonkers.......even Cath at Moxie Fab has turned it off. Please, please, ladies, do as Linda suggests!!
ReplyDeleteThanks...I agree with your position on this! I have stopped leaving comments on blogs that require verification.
ReplyDeleteyahoooooooooooo....thank you thank you thank you for this blog post!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I totally agree. I moderate all my comments as well and have them come directly to my email for notification, review and finally acceptance/publication. It's a win, win for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with you Linda, the new word verification is dreadful.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I suffer with eye problems I still like to comment on all DT entries if I can, but sometimes like one this monring I gave up - after for abortive attempts that time.
I had been thinking about posting something along these lines on the challenges I run and I think we all need to try and work together on this one.
Thanks for your post.

can't agree with you more! The new word verification is unbelievably time consuming. It took me about eight minutes to complete one this morning - it was two nine letter 'words', and I got it wrong three times. I was fuming by the end of it!
ReplyDeleteI hope I have turned it off as I hadn't realised it was on and the new format drives me totally insane! Thank you for the link.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this. I totally agree and I have got to the point that I will try once and then leave the blog if they have word verification on.
ReplyDeleteHere Here Linda, I am glad someone has actually said something at last.
ReplyDeleteSmiles:)
Thank you so much for posting this information :-)
ReplyDeleteI`m so agree with you all!!!
Hugs from Karin
The new format is so time consuming - thank you!!
ReplyDeleteDeanne :)
I couldn't agree more! Well done you for tackling this
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, love your image where did you find it? I need one lol
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only one that needed to enter the letters 2 and 3 times! Good Grief! That is so annoying! I'm glad someone else is having the same problems I was! (I thought it was just my "old" eyes! Giggle) Totally agree with you!
