Recipe - Part 2

Welcome back to the second of this month's inspirational instalments from the Our Creative Corner team!

Thank you so much to all of you that have taken part in the 'Recipe' challenge so far. There has been another really great response and all the team have had so much fun visiting you all and seeing what wonderful creations you have shown us.

The first two weeks of the challenge started with half of the team showing you some creations to lead you on your way down your own creative path. Now the rest of the team are here to provide you with even more inspiration! Before we do that, here's a quick reminder of the Recipe ingredients list (remember, you need to use at least one from each list).

List A
List B
List C
Lace
Metal
Inks
Fabric
Wood/MDF
Paints
Ribbon
Clay
Stains

I am sure you are impatient to see what has made for you to view here today so here goes...

Anne

I was delighted when I saw the challenge that Jenny set for this month as it meant that I could do one of my favourite chunky ATCs from a woodblock. I chose Paris for my theme and the wonderful Prima Engraver  papers to match a crystal knob I have wanted to use for ages.

List A - Lace
List B - Metal and Wood
List C - Paints

What a yummy challenge Jenny has set for us this month - so many of the choices are right up my alley!

List A - I used fabric (burlap, always a huge favourite of mine) and ribbon
List B - Metal (I just love the metal floral filigree piece and this was the perfect opportunity to use it!)
List C - I used lots of Vintage Photo Distress Ink to sponge the edges of my papers

With my crafting time under pressure through only being with my stash for half of each week, it's great to make something purely for the sheer joy of it... so Jenny's Recipe challenge gave me the perfect opportunity to just play with lots of my favourite things!

List A - ribbon
List B - metal
List C - inks and paints

Claudia

I created this tag inspired by some images of torn old wallpapers, peeling off the walls, letting show the various layers of old wall paints through with some areas... a kind of beauty in decay which I love very much as it tells a story about the nature of life in general.

List A - Ribbon, lace and fabric
List B - Metal (heart)
List C - Distress Inks, acrylic paints

There are two more weeks of this challenge left, so why not have fun creating whatever takes your fancy using ingredients from each list and join our Recipe challenge.

The deadline for this challenge is Friday 28th June at 11.59pm.
The winner and Top 3 from this challenge will be announced on the 8th July.

The winner will be invited to appear as 'The Top Talent' here at OCC, have a short interview (so we can find out all about them) and there will be a 'Spotlight' on a new project they have created.

The winner's Top Talent interview and creation will be on the 22nd August.

Make sure you join us again for those dates and remember that the next challenge will go 'live' on 1st July when Linda announces her theme. Come and see what surprises are in store for you and where your next OCC challenge journey will take you!

Anything Goes Winner and Top 3

Welcome back to Our Creative Corner!

Laura here to bring you the Winners from last months challenge

Last month was 'Anything Goes' and we had such an immense response! It was wonderful seeing so many creative entries. There is so much incredible talent out there - I was amazed by what everyone created. Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to share their wonderful work with us - I wish you could have all won this month - You are all so talented.

As this was the challenge that I hosted it was my job to judge the winners. Judging this was always going to be so difficult - 720 entries!....and I could only select 4!
It was such a hard decision to make, but I finally managed to select the Winner and Top 3......

The winner of 'Anything Goes' is.................

                                                         No. 111 - Paula T

This gypsy plaque is gorgeous! - I love the faded colours in the stamped picture and the subtle vintage colour scheme. The crackle effect and script are beautiful and I adore the lace and how it looks like it is part of the wood. Congratulations Paula!

And now the Top 3! Well done to all of you!

No. 43 - Hazel H

This bird decoration is amazing - Such an unique creation - I really love the tarnished metal paint effect. It certainly inspired me because I want to make one of my own now! This is such an amazing transformation!

                                                            No. 516 - Asia King

This scrapbook layout is adorable! I love the delicate layers and gorgeous shabby chic look. It really does capture the atmosphere of a glorious summer afternoon and of course the traditional afternoon tea!

                                                           No. 659 - Monique

This page is truly wonderful! - I couldn't stop looking at it as there is so much to see! I loved all the bright colours and the variety of textures. This is such a fantastic piece - full of detail and creativity.

Well done to the 'Our Creative Corner' Winner and our Top 3! Feel free to grab your badges from the sidebar and we hope you will display them on your blog for all to see.....

Don't forget the new 'Recipe' challenge! - Come and see what it is all about and please join us. You could be joining Paula in 'Our Winners Corner' next month and being invited to create something for us and feature as our Top Talent!

We will be back on the 15th June with more of the DT's inspiring creations

Recipe

Welcome back to Our Creative Corner. Jenny here to host you for the month of June. On behalf of the Design Team thank you all so much for the magnificent response to our first challenge 'under new management'. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to see the 720 entries which were varied and so creative. Picking a winner is going to be very hard indeed!

And now to introduce the new theme for this;

 'Recipe'

We hope you will enjoy this theme as much as the last one.

So, how to get involved. You need to choose at least one element from each list below and include them in your project. If you want to add more that's fine, go for it!

List A
List B
List C
Lace
Metal
Inks
Fabric
Wood/MDF
Paints
Ribbon
Clay
Stains

What you do with them is up to you. We'd love to see your tags, altered art, mixed media, journalling, 3D art, ATC's, and cardsIt would really help if you could list the ingredients you've used to make judging your fabulous entries easier.

Bring your creations to Our Creative Corner and you could be our WINNER!
(Please check out the rules at the end of this post to make sure your entry can be accepted).

Challenge Winners

The winner and Top 3 from this challenge will be announced on the 8th July.

The winner will be invited to appear as 'The Top Talent' here at OCC, have a short interview so we can find out all about them and there will be a 'Spotlight' on a new project they have created. This will take place on 22nd August.

We have a page on this blog called 'Winner's Corner'.
The winners name will be featured on this.

For entrants who have won our challenges and been featured as 'Top Talent' three times there will be a very special 'Gold Winner' badge for you to display proudly on your blog - now there's a challenge for you.

Of course, there's only one way to collect your badges and have your name placed in 'Winner's Corner' for all to see - let's see your entries!

Remember, Laura will be back on the 8th June to announce the winner of the 'Anything Goes' challenge, and on 15th June the rest of the Design Team will showcase their creations for this month's challenge.

So now it's time to see what the first half of the Design Team have been up to.

Totally intrigued by what everyone else was doing with crackle, I wanted to try this on my project. As I was away on holiday, I packed everything I needed from 'the list'; lace, metal, paints, etc. as well as the crackle fluid. Then I decided I wanted to make a shrine. Miles from any craft shops, no time to order on the internet, I had to revert to basic skills and make my own shrine.
Here it is, and if you'd like to find out how I did it pop over to my blog. Hope to see you there!

List A   Lace
List B   Metal (that's the clock face on the wings and the metal hanging chain)
List C   Paints

As host of this challenge I went for the 'use everything' approach to see where it took me. Don't panic - you don't have to do this! Thankfully the generous Tracy Evans had sent me an untreated wooden pot as part of a clear-out competition she held recently. I set about transforming it with all of the ingredients listed in the table above and now have a rather useful and elegant pin cushion/pot. It took me back to my days of upholstering my Nana's dining chairs and making curtains many moons ago.
For some close ups and a brief step by step hop on over to my blog.

List A   Lace, Fabric and Ribbon (seam binding)
List B   Metal (foil tape), Wood, Clay
List C   Ink, Paint, Stain

My starting point for this piece was a beautiful stamp depicting part of a painting by John William Waterhouse. I am a huge Waterhouse fan and had this particular stamp plate on my wish list forever! I chose fabric, clay and paint as my main ingredients.
If you hop over to my blog you'll see all the other ingredients I chose from the list too - I never seem to know when to stop.................................!

List A   Fabric
List B   Clay
List C   Paint

This creation started from finding some 'Baby feet' brads that I bought many years ago and I had forgotten about them. This quote is a favourite of mine and was an obvious choice... The recipe then led the way down the lovely path of neutral colours, gorgeous texture and fun, messy painting........
....... and for once not a flower in sight!!!

List A   Lace
List B   Metal & Wood
List C   Paint & Ink

Anything Goes - Part 2

Welcome back to the second installment of inspiration from the Our Creative Corner team!

Thank you so much to all of you who have taken part so far in our 'Anything Goes' challenge. There has been an amazing response and all the team have had so much fun visiting you all and seeing what wonderful creations you have shown us.

Thank you so much for supporting our first challenge as a new team - we are so very grateful.....

The first two weeks of the challenge started with half of the team showing you some creations to lead you on your way down your own creative path - Now the rest of the team are here to provide you with even more inspiration!

I am sure you are impatient to see what has made for you to view here today...so no more talk from me!....I present to you the fantastic creations from the Our Creative Corner design team!

I created a vintage style booklet, telling about yet "untold" stories that may have happened that way in historic places but have never been told (as I believe it is the people who have been to them that "write" the stories and not the places themselves). And in a certain sense of the meaning we write history every day, don't we? Therefore I tried to keep the pages stories rather sketchy - so there is room for imagination and poetry.

I have a passion for and am totally inspired by all things Tim Holtz and Wendy Vecchi. I made this piece for a very special friend, for whom the words are totally appropriate.

I was in a girlie mood and wanted to use some of my lovely Pion Design paper.  I also pulled out an old goodie Wendy Vecchi stamp set to use for the sentiments.

Alison

This tag was the result of an impromptu crafty tutorial session for a friend completely new to crafting.  I was just grabbing anything to show her what was possible, and she followed along with her own version.
So it's got Distress Inks, Stains, stamping, embossing, wrinkle-free distress technique, spritz and flick, die-cutting, punching, and ribbon dyeing - a bit of everything and anything, and I ended up really loving it - so it seemed perfect for Anything Goes!

There are two more weeks of our challenge left....so why not have fun creating
anything you want and join our Anything Goes challenge

The deadline for this challenge is Tuesday 28th May at 11.59pm
The winner and Top 3 from this challenge will be announced on the 8th June.

The winner will be invited to appear as 'The Top Talent' here at OCC, have a short interview so we can find out all about them and there will be a 'Spotlight' on a new project they have created.

The winner's Top Talent interview and creation will be on the 22nd July.

Make sure you are here next month to find out what our next challenge will be - Jenny will be here on the 1st June to announce her challenge. Come and see what surprises are in store for you and where your next OCC challenge journey will take you!

                                                                      Laura

I decided to go with my usual Shabby Chic tag in faded dusty pastels. It is always so lovely working in lovely delicate vintage shades and also to add lots of flowers, ink, stamps, ribbons, lace, layers, torn paper and, of course, the essential - an inspiring sentiment.

 Margie

For my very first Design Team project, I decorated this journal for a new crafting friend who is just 9 years old but has aspirations as a dress designer. I was longing to use the new Julie Nutting mixed media doll stamp mixed with some vintage scraps.

                                                                    Jenny

I always like to try new things or confront media or techniques that have so far been a challenge, so for my first Our Creative Corner project I tackled my nemesis - alcohol inks!! This little glass jar has been altered to within an inch of its life and it all started with alcohol inks

Julia

I've been learning mixed media and paint techniques with Andy Skinner and this is a club piece I finished recently. I think you'll either love him or hate him but he makes me swoon! The starting point was a plain bisque figure (cream coloured) designed by AS then many layers of Americana paint and Decoart mediums later, this is how he ended up.

Welcome to Our Creative Corner

Welcome to our Creative Corner

Hello! My name is Laura and I am the new owner of Our Creative Corner.

Our Creative Corner was one of the first challenge blogs I ever took part in - and I loved it. It was a huge honour when Linda asked me if I would like to take over the running of it.
You will notice that somethings have been changed.  However, we will never be erasing Our Creative Corner's history, and the wonderful work by Linda and all the previous DT members will still be here for you to see.

I have recruited a brand new Design Team to re-launch Our Creative Corner, and for the last few weeks we have been focused on bringing you a challenge blog that you will love.
We have changed the decor, adjusted the challenge organisation and made some new rules, but, for those of you who have always visited Our Creative Corner,  I can assure you it will continue to be the inspiring challenge it always has been.

Behind the scenes we have all been working hard to form our vision of a new creative challenge.
I'll just give you the details of the things we have organised.

Our Creative Corner will now be a monthly challenge
running from the 1st to the 28th of each month.

Each member of the DT will host a challenge in turn and will judge that challenge.

We would love to see all styles of crafting: shabby chic, grunge, vintage...
and most of all we love to see projects where creativity is at the centre.

We'd be thrilled to see a variety of creations - tags, scrapbooking, cards, altered art, ATC's, mixed media, journal pages, 3D projects and more......

Whatever you love creating - this is the Creative Corner for you!

There will be two posts that show the DT creations.  Half the team will post their creations on the 1st of the month and the second half will be here to show their creations on the 15th - to inspire you throughout the month.

Challenge Winners

The winner from the previous challenge will be announced on the 8th of each month.

The winner will be invited to appear as 'The Top Talent' here at OCC,
with the 'Spotlight' on a new project they have created.

The Top Talent post will be on the 22nd of each month.

We will be having a page on this blog called 'Winner's Corner'
This will feature all the names of the winners and the date that they were featured.

For entrants who have won our challenges and have been featured as 'Top Talent' 3 times - there will be a very special 'Gold Winner' badge for you to proudly display on your blog

There is only one way to get your badges and have your name placed forever in 'Winners Corner' - Enter the challenges!

Rules

We have adjusted the rules slightly
  1.  You may enter each challenge a maximum of three times but they must be different creations and posted on your blog separately
  2.  If you post too many entries then they will sadly have to be deleted
  3.  No backlinking. Please do not enter a creation published on your blog before the challenge start date
  4.  Please link to the actual post, not your blog
  5.  You may combine our challenge with as many other challenges you wish
Please note - Our DT will not comment on blogs with word verification. So if you would like our DT to comment on your entry, then please turn off word verification.

The 'Our Creative Corner' Design Team

I am so happy and very proud to be able to introduce you to the Our Creative Corner Design Team.

This challenge blog has been, and will continue to be very much a team project - with all of us contributing our design work, coming up with interesting challenges and providing occasional surprise posts about our work, tutorials and other ideas that we will share with you.

It is such a honour to be joined by these amazingly creative artists......They will be hosting each challenge in turn and presenting you with their wonderful work.

Laura - Laurart
My main interest in crafts is to focus on detail - that is why I love miniature work. I am new to the world of inks and stamps, but they really have transformed my work and I couldn't manage without them now. I am really looking forward to seeing what everyone makes for the challenges, and I can't wait to begin work on presenting this blog with such an amazing team!

Alison aka butterfly - Words and Pictures

I'm a relatively recent convert to crafting, but it would be fair to say I'm now completely addicted.  I love tags, and altered art and all things Tim Holtz, and I veer wildly from Shabby Chic to Grunge to Vintage... as long as I've got stamps, inks and paints to mess about with, I'm happy.
I'm so excited to be a part of this team of astounding crafters.

Anne - Redanne

I am thrilled to be part of this amazingly talented team!
I have been 'crafty' all my life - sewing, knitting, upholstery and I discovered paper crafting 5 years ago. I adore working with paper, ink, paint, wood and canvas and my style is eclectic. I am totally inspired by Tim Holtz and Wendy Vecchi.

Margie - MargiesBlueHouse

It is so exciting to be involved with such a great team at the re-launch of this wonderful challenge blog that I know you are all going to love.
My style leans towards Vintage and I really like making little books, boxes and cards but I'm now enjoying getting messy with mixed media projects. I'm constantly amazed at all the creativity out there and looking forward to being inspired by what you make.

Linda - The Funkie Junkie

I am delighted to be asked to stay on the new Our Creative Corner. You probably already know my style, but I lean toward all things vintage from shabby chic to grungy.  Besides paper, I love incorporating textiles and metals into my craft projects.  Can't wait to get started with this awesome new team!

Claudia aka die amelie - VonPappeII

Gosh! I am so proud to be part of this awesome team - and that even with one of my very first cool challenge blogs I stumbled upon when starting my crafty "blogger career" about one year ago! Since then I have been exploring a lot of new techniques and found my focal points mainly with distressed looking tags a la Tim Holtz, Steampunk and altered art projects. I am one of those messy, "chaotic crafters" *lol
I enjoy visiting other people's blogs, thus diving into foreign worlds of imagination and creativity!

Jenny aka Buttons - Pushing The Right Buttons

How lucky am I to be a part of the amazing Our Creative Corner team! Having created things all my life, paper-crafting and mixed media has become something of an obsession in the past couple of years. Experimenting with new techniques and products drives me forward, and if I can inspire others to push themselves in the same way then for me that's job done.

Julia aka Julia S-W - Julia's Stuff

I am delighted to have been invited to join the Our Creative Corner team and to be amongst such wonderfully talented company! I am a life long 'creative' and would now class myself as an obessive crafter! I love stamping, mixed media projects, all things distressed, altered art and vintage is becoming a passion. The talent in 'blogland' continues to amaze and inspire me everyday.

Laura will be back on the May 1st, bringing you our first challenge - We are all really looking forward to it. We do hope that you come back and join us!
