Distress to De-stress Winners

We had a lot of really lovely submissions for our distressed sketch challenge.  The design team enjoyed looking through them all and nominating our favorites.  Here are our decisions for this week's winners.

The Top Talent award goes to Chupa of Random Acts of Creativity for this beauty:
We loved all the different patterns, textures and elements she used and felt they all worked together to create a lovely vintage look.  The out-of-the-box cutting on the main element is an interesting technique and the banner sentiment is charming.  Congratulations on being our Top Talent this week, Chupa, and watch for an email inviting you to be a guest designer with us for an upcoming challenge.

Congratulations to the following who we picked to be our Talented Trio this week.  In no particular order they are:

Anne Marie of Stampin' Anne
Anne Marie's card has lovely rich colors and is loaded with layers and texture.  Her distressing is perfect, especially the spritzed color around the main image.  Scrumptious bright red ribbon too!

Iolanthe of Paperstrokers Anonymous
We loved the square version of the sketch and the scalloped border around the edge adds a simple yet elegant touch. The pansy image is so pretty with the distressed pansy border.  Gorgeous card!

The vintage lady stamp is so pretty and the addition of the hand rolled ribbon flowers is a sweet embellishment. Her DP works perfectly with her subject and the gold doily makes a lovely backdrop.

Congratulations to all our winners this week.  We hope you will grab your winner's badge from our sidebar and proudly display them on your blog.

And don't forget about our current 1-2-3-4 recipe challenge.  You still have until 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, March 11th to submit your entry.

1-2-3-4 Challenge

Hello ladies!  We're excited to have you with us this week at Our Creative Corner!  Thanks to all of you that joined us last week for Sarah's Distress to De-Stress challenge.  We will announce the design team's top picks on Wednesday.  Until then, join us for this week's challenge!

I'm Kristin from LilyBeth Boutique and I'm your hostess this week!  I'm new to the OCC Design Team and this is my first time hosting a challenge here...are you ready?  This inspiration for this challenge comes from my 2 year old daughter, she recently learned to count 20.  However for the longest time, she couldn't get past 4...or wouldn't...  Hence the 1-2-3-4 challenge!  Here are the parameters:
  • Use ONE pre-patterned paper - not stamped, but you can of course stamp on it.
  • Limited to TWO layers - What is a layer you ask?  Your card base is NOT a layer, neither are embellishments.  Paper makes up the layers - mats would be considered a layer.
  • Use THREE different stamped images - your sentiment would be one of your images if it's stamped.
  • Limit yourself to FOUR embellishments - they can all be the same, or 4 different, it's your choice!
Now, here are some fabulous cards to inspire you1  First this is from our Guest Designer this week, Eva Costigan from Stamp S'more .

Isn't that great?  Here are more gorgeous inspirations from our Design Team:

Vicki Burdick-It's a Stamp Thing

Linda Coughlin - The Funkie Junkie

Wendy Janson - It's All About Stamping

Diane Gilbert ~ My Little Stampin' Spot!

Kristin K Tierney - LilyBeth Boutique

Rebecca Ednie Eclectic Endeavours

Lori Rider - The Diva Stamper

Jen Rzasa - Our Change of Art

Sarah Gough - THinkING STAMPS

Sharon Wheet - Designs by Sharon

If it's not evident just by looking, please explain how your creation meets the challenge requirements, and don't forget to put a link on your post back here!  Are you ready?  Go get your craft on!

Getting Wordy Winners!

Thanks to everyone who played the Getting Wordy challenge - we really enjoyed seeing you get creative with your sentiment stamps. Now it's time to reveal our winners!

The Top Talent award this week goes to Barb of BugBites:

Barb's fun and funky birthday card made us smile this week. We loved her CAS design, the adorable banner, the perfect background and the great colors. It's just too cute - congratulations, Barb! Please feel free to display our badge on your blog. We will be contacting you about a guest designer spot in a future challenge.

The Talented Trio this week is:

Nelia Harper of My Lovely Inspirations:

This card is just cool - a great masculine card. The use of the digital stamp background was really ingenious and the pattern is so eye-catching. Fabulous use of twine and eyelets, too.

Jeri of Bug 'n Me Creations:

The pops of color on this card are gorgeous and the design is beautiful. We loved the doily and the flowers for a shabby look with lots of texture.

Joan of JJCreations:

Joan's paper and colors work beautifully with this vintage-style image. Her creative use of the sentiment stamp definitely caught our attention!

Congrats to all the Talented Trio winners! Please grab our badge for display on your blog and thanks so much for sharing your creativity with us!

You still have time to enter the Distress to De-Stress sketch challenge from Sarah Gough for this week - come join in the fun! Then come back on Saturday for our first March challenge!

Distress to De-Stress Sketch!

Hi Everyone, welcome back to Our Creative Corner! Thank you to all who participated in last week's challenge to 'Get Wordy' - we're going through all your entries, look out for our favourite picks later in the week!

This week our hostess is Sarah Gough - THinkING STAMPS and she's asking us to Distress to De-Stress using the provided sketch! This week crumple flowers, distress edges or sponge your stress away while you work with the sketch!

We'll be looking for gorgeously distressed cards that work with the sketch for our creative awards next week!

Here are the amazing design team samples for this week...

Winners of the Cut It Out Challenge

We may have had a record number of players with the OCC last week - wow! It was truly amazing and we are so grateful for everyone that played along with the Cut It Out challenge. Of course, lots of entries meant lots of possible winners, but we narrowed it down to these wonderful projects.

For the Top Talent award we chose Kylie of Kylie's Kraft Room:

We loved the combination of the sensational paper piecing and the beautiful soft and girly embellishments. The coloring is simply gorgeous as well. Congratulations, Kylie! Please feel free to display the Top Talent badge on your blog and watch for an email about a future guest designer spot!

And now, the Talented Trio:

First is Kathy of Inspired to Stamp:

Kathy's card is gorgeously finished with beautiful colors, and her hand-cut birdhouse is the epitome of fussy cutting. Her design and embellishments are just fabulous.

Next we have Monika Davis, the M.A.D. Stamper:

This card is full of amazing textures and the flowers are perfectly cut. The embellishments and die-cuts provide the perfect finishing touches with the gorgeous color scheme and design.

And Nancy Brown of Inspired by Stamps:

The layering of the cut-out pansies is wonderful on Nancy's card, and she combined the beautiful colors with such lovely embellishments.

Congratulations to all the Talented Trio winners this week - you can grab the badge to display on your blogs and we hope you'll come play along with us again!

Don't forget to join in the Getting Wordy challenge that closes Friday night - we are enjoying seeing the creations that have been posted so far. And of course we'll be back on Saturday with more fun for the coming week!
