Buttons 'n Burlap or Bows

Greetings OCC friends!  So great to have you visiting us today.  A huge thank you to all of last week's participants and visitors.  We loved looking at all your wonderful Tim Holtz techniques and hope you found inspiration from both the team and the participants.

Don't forget, we currently have an open Design Team call.  All the details and the linky to apply are here in this post.

Linda back with you for a second week of hosting challenges.  This week, we are going super simple with just two required ingredients, but they are some of my favorite embellishments - Buttons and  Burlap or Bows (must include buttons and either burlap or bows or both).  Easy peasy and lots of fun, right?  So grab your buttons and your burlap and your bows.  Let's see what you can do!  To get that inspiration flowing, here's the line up of our design team this week.

A Winner for the Embellished Frame Challenge.

Hello Everyone.
Sue back again to announce the Winner of last weeks Challenge.
Thank you so much to you all for your wonderful creations on the 'Embellished Frame Challenge'.
But as always there can only be one Winner:
So well done and congratulations to Mitra  with this amazing creation.

Your 'tart pan' is dramatic, but it does not overpower your frame which you have embellished amazingly with the gorgeous flowers, and even though your centre image it is low key, which is what I was looking for in this Challenge; the frame being the priority.
It is unorthodox and unconventional in it's design; but most certainly a feast for the eyes!
 Congratulations!
PLEASE  feel free to display our Top Talent Award badge on your blog.
There is still time to enter this week's Challenge to check it out click here.
You have until Friday, June 15th at 11:59 EST to link up to the challenge.
Please join us.
Smiles:)

Welcome back friends of the OCC!  It's great to have you with us this week.  We want to thank everyone who visited us last week, especially those who joined in with Sue's Embellished Frame challenge.  Be sure to stop back on Wednesday to see who we chose as the Top Talent for that challenge.

Linda Coughlin here as hostess.  Before we get to my challenge, I also want to let you know that we will be kicking off a design team call here starting on Monday, June 11th running through June 22nd.  We will have a post up on Monday with all the details and an linky for you to submit your best work.  We will have five open positions and are looking for a wide range of styles from CAS to grunge to shabby chic.  Anyone who has had a blog for six months or longer is welcome to apply so be sure to stop back on Monday for all the deets.

This week my challenge to you is to show us your favorite Tim Holtz technique (A TECHNIQUE!  USING A TIM HOLTZ/RANGER PRODUCT DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THIS CHALLENGE!!).   Whether you are a big fan of Tim Holtz or not, you can't deny that he has had an incredibly powerful impact on the paper crafting industry and it's a lot of fun to try out some of his techniques.  Check out his blog and the Ranger blog for all sorts of step by steps and demos on dozens of techniques.  What's your favorite Tim Holtz technique?  We hope you will share it with us this week.  And now let's check out the favorite TH techniques of our designers.

A Winner for the Shabby- Chic Challenge.

Hello Everyone.

Susan here to announce a winner for the Shabby-Chic Challenge.
I was thrilled with our entries for my Challenge,  it was especially pleasing to see first-timers  giving it a go as well, it is not an easy genre, but I do believe we have won over a few of you;  that alone is satisfying.
Anyway I will not keep you in suspense, the WINNER is
Ira from  'My Crafty Heart'.
I loved this card from the moment I laid my eyes on it.

Ira has captured the meaning of Shabby-Chic perfectly; the Vintage photo which has such an enduring and endearing appeal, you pick up on the Pink tones immediately, and Ira has followed this through with her soft muted Bg papers.
The embellishment of her pearl clasp adds a touch of 'chic' and with her wonderful flower which creates so much movement, dimension and a tactile quality. Her shabbiness is seen in her wonderful soft flower and distressing, and adding another image and  doily surreptitiously on the Bg is another plus for me as it continues the theme perfectly.
It has great form and composition, and I am sure you will all agree a most worthy winner.
Well Done Ira, PLEASE  feel free to display our Top Talent Award badge on your blog.

I am going to mention a few extra names because their creations were so unique and exceptional: Dorota  and Kate 'The Scrap Yard' for their amazing altered boxes, take a look, it is a feast for the eyes.
Thank you all very much for delighting us with your work.
There is still time to enter in this week's "The Embellished Frame" challenge.
Click HERE to check it out. You have until Friday, June 8th at 11:59 EST to link up to the challenge.
Please join us.
Smiles:)

Embellished Frame

Welcome; Susan here again your Hostess for one more week.  The theme is a little different, but I don't think too much of a challenge for you all.

First, a huge thank you for all who participated in my ‘Shabby Chic’ Challenge last week.  You delivered some amazing creations.  The judging will be a tough one, but please call in next Wednesday to see if you are the lucky winner.

So on to this week's Theme: 'Embellished Frame'.

The requirements are:

Make it any shape, but make the Frame the primary focus of your project.
I would like it to be the first thing your eye catches before anything else.

Your creation can be off the page, out of the box, or whatever obscure title you come up with, in other words it does not have to be a card/tag. So have a play and have some fun and enjoy the experience, try mixed-media if you dare!!!!!

Do not panic, to help you our DTs and I have provided some wonderful illustrations that will kick start your artistic side.  It will be fun, trust me!

First up is our Guest designer this week; LeAnne.
